AUDIO DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE (ADC) is one of the most respected international events dedicated to game audio, DSP, music tech and audio development tools. In November 2025, I was invited to deliver a main-stage talk in Bristol. Titled “Why You're Not Getting Hired And What You're Going to Do About It”, the session offered an unflinching look at the freelance audio market, the myths junior composers cling to, and the practical realities of building a career from scratch without connections, credentials, or shortcuts.

CLIQUE GAMES is a prolific VR/XR publisher and editorial platform focused on creative process, emerging tech, and independent voices in the games industry. I contributed to a piece entitled “Why I Refuse to Use AI Audio”, which examines the dangers of replacing human intuition, why creative friction still matters, and where I draw the line between innovation and compromise.
"AI can generate, yes. But it cannot insist, argue, or say, ‘No, that’s not it. Let me show you something better'."

PIBOX is a remote collaboration platform used by audio and video teams worldwide. They regularly feature professionals pushing the edge of creative workflow. They recently profiled me in a focused piece on process, mindset and discipline as a composer.
“You shouldn’t find yourself at 1:00 a.m. thinking, ‘I don’t know what to do.’ That usually means you weren’t paying attention.”

THUMB WARS is a pop‑culture outlet covering games, creative labour, and the broader forces shaping the industry. They contacted me for my stance on the current wave of layoffs, studio closures, and the broader erosion of stability in game audio. I appear in “Lead Video Game Audio Designer Edward Ray Gets Raw and Real Over the Industry, the Layoffs and the Lack of Optimism Right Now”, discussing what’s shifting beneath the surface, as well as what creative survival really demands in 2025.
“This is not a good time. Roles are vanishing. Studios are folding. Contracts are getting shorter, and the goalposts move with every quarter.”
MODULAR BEING is a series brought to you by Conatus Modulari, which is The Netherlands' premier YouTube channel discussing Modular Synthesis. In this interview, Fabio and I talk about the creative process, how it relates to Modular Synths, and a host of other topics.
DESIGN IN FOCUS is a multimedia channel designed for Creatives, Innovators and Designers. Candice and I discuss music within the video games industry, the differences between music in video games versus the music industry, as well as the video game industry at large.
SHOUTOUT LA is an online publication discussing creativity and entrepreneurship. In this written interview, I discuss what got me to where I am today, some of the practical aspects of how I do what I do, and, most importantly - mention some of the people who helped me out along the way.
"Rather than simply taking visual prompts from the client and making a stab at my own interpretation of what I think would work best in terms of a sonic palette or genre, I try to encourage my collaborators to steer away from the cliché or typical. The only acceptable outcome is that we develop a sound for the project that sets it apart in order to ensure a memorable experience."

INDIECATOR.ORG is a blog centered around independent video games, bringing more attention to Indie Gems that you may not have heard about yet. Games reviews, news, tips and tricks. In this interview, Dan and I discuss my beginnings in games, music and my first steps into the video games industry, making music. We also get into my approach to writing music and how I work with clients.
"I try to identify the commissioning parties’ vision, rather than my own. I think that the most challenging and rewarding part of what we do as composers for hire is just that – helping others discover their musical vision for their projects. Most of the heavy lifting in terms of finding the right sound is through discussion, far before pitching and refining. I try to emphasise the importance of this – spending days in a discussion can save months’ worth of revising ideas. As far as I’m concerned, this preliminary work isn’t optional."

BOLD JOURNEY is an online magazine that serves to discuss the daily issues we face, not just as professionals but as human beings. They showcase individuals and the challenges they've overcome in their business and private lives.
"Passion: Figure out what that one thing is, the one that you would love to spend most of your life doing.
Focus: Know what it is you are trying to achieve in that field. Make some money? Free up time to do more of that thing? Make it your career? Planning: Research what is needed to get you closer to that goal. Set timelines. Tasks. Not every task will be worth doing and you may only know after the event. That big networking event that cost $2000? May be a total waste of time. That work you put into something that did absolutely no good? You may never see any benefit from it. So cast a wide net. Do as many things as you possibly can. Tackle this from every angle. Follow others before you. Seek advice, get feedback. Be kind to yourself, these things take time. But remember, as with anything, the less you do, the longer it will take."
